DLF IPL 2012 Match 57 - PWI vs RCB



Royal Challengers Bangalore aced Pune Warriors India by 35 runs through an all-round proves in DLF IPL 2012. Chris Gayle's merciless attack stands set the tone for Dilshan Tillekeratne to deal in ferocious cuts as the visitors piled up 173. RCB bowling aces then took over, Zaheer Khan's swing, Vinay Kumar's pace; Muthiah Muralitharan's guile pressed the home team over the brink, ending with 138 for nine.

Twins strikes by Zaheer put the brakes on PWI before the chase got off the chunk. Manish Pandey gone his offstump to a splendor. Vinay chipped in with Clarke's wicket, digging one short for the Aussie to wade in as estimated. Tiwary on the mid-wicket boundary marker kept track off the ball and pouched the catch. Muralitharan's act was next in the excitement being played out at the wicket, cashing in on Uthappa's reckless streak for a stumping.

Majumdar's heroic act ended in Zaheer's hands at cover, a dive forward to make up for late reaction followed by a fall down. Earlier Bhuvanesh Kumar brought out the quiet danger in Gayle. PWI's most efficient bowler so far in IPL5 found four balls soaring high over his head into the stands as RCB's destroyer associated with straight hits, four sixes in the sixth over thrilling fans, fielders looked on helplessly.

Indian Railways medium-pacer Krishnakant Upadhyay got an experience of reality in his second over, two balls swatted disdainfully on either side of sightscreen by Gayle, leaving the rain-drenched fans noisy with delight. Rahul Sharma came next in the dismissal line, escaped major injure to his psyche. Gayle paid for his daring in the next over, front foot out with bat swinging for a smash to long-on. The ball didn't clear Manish Pandey on the boundary marker, bowler Angelo Matthews responded with a clenched fist celebration.

PWI got a toehold in the match as leg-spinner Rahul deceived Kohli into top-edging into Smith's hand over at cover. Dilshan stepped into the spotlight, larceny runs off Upadhyay via sweeps and forceful drives square off the wicket. RCB, 129 for two off 15 overs had in right men at the crease for the attack in the last five overs in Dilshan and Tiwary.
